Why Inspector Nick's still a matinee idol
NICK Clegg may be leader of the Liberal Democrats but he can still find time to take a starring role in his local pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, next month.
He's taking a bit of a risk as he won't be at the rehearsals.
"With all his commitments he still wants to do the panto," says Marion Reynolds, box office manager of the Hallam Players.
Nick, who plays a Health and Safety inspector, shares the role with his predecessor as MP for Sheffield Hallam, Richard Allan.

Richard will do the shows at the Merlin Theatre, Nether Edge on Thursday and Friday, February 28 and 29, and hands over to Nick for matinee and evening performances on Saturday, March 1.
"They'd find it difficult rehearsing as they are both down in London... but they could probably do it without even learning their lines," says Marion loyally.
Matinee idol Nick played the handsome prince in Sleeping Beauty in the last panto, which is staged every two years.
Tickets (8/4) are available from Marion on 0114 266 9464. All Saturday matinee seats are sold out.
