Water level is running high
The heavy winter rain and melting snow has meant the volume of water flowing along Paper Mill Dyke continues to remain high.
The dyke runs from the direction of Maltby alongside Rotherham Road, beneath Worksop Road, through Home Meadows and on to the Mill Dam at Tickhill.
Thousands of gallons of water are pouring through the fully open mechanical sluice gate at a rate of knots, preventing the dyke and Mill Dam from overflowing their banks, as happened a couple of years ago.
Workmen have located a barrier around the sluice gate to protect the work that has been carried out recently, because of previous vandalism.
