Lunchtimes are great for snatching a quick hair appointment or getting your nails done.

Well now there’s a new lunchtime beauty treatment - ‘3D Lipo’ - or Cryolipolysis, to use its Sunday name.

It hit the British market last year and has now landed in South Yorkshire where, at a small salon in Attercliffe, owner Vinisha Ali is blazing the trail for the region.

“Cryolipolysis is a completely non-invasive fat-busting treatment,” said Vinisha, who has owned Illusionz Salon for 15 years.

“We apply a suction cup to the skin, which freezes the fat cells before they’re naturally eliminated by the body - and the results are fantastic.”

Vinisha is speaking from experience. Nothing comes into her salon which she hasn’t tried out for herself.

“We all have pockets of stubborn fat that no amount of healthy eating and exercise can get rid of,” she said.

And two people who know exactly what Vinisha is talking about are her first two clients of the day - 32-year-old PR consultant Philip Strafford and his mum Sue, 62.

They’re both slim, eat sensibly and exercise, but are cursed with stubborn fat on their stomachs.

“I thought the treatment sounded really appealing and, as my mum suffers with the same problem, we decided to try it together,” said Philip.

Sue’s up first. “I’m a little nervous, of course,” she admitted as she lay on the table, after having her measurements taken.

“Although the fact there are no knives or needles helps.”

Vinisha applies the suction cup to Sue’s stomach and - before our eyes - her stomach begins to rise vertically upwards until the cup is filled with six inches of skin and fatty tissue.

“It’s a strange sensation, cold and tingly but not at all uncomfortable,” said Sue, from Oughtibridge.

Just 45 minutes later, it’s Philip’s turn.

“It’s true, it feels bizarre, but not painful,” he said.

By the time they’re both finished with their treatments, a little temporary pinkness on their stomachs is the only clue they’ve had anything done.

Vinisha said: “You can resume normal activity straight away and the area will begin tightening, flattening and smoothing after about eight weeks with a 25 to 40 per cent reduction of fat cells in that area.”
