Video CV pioneered to help students
STUDENTS with learning difficulties are to pilot a new Doncaster College project which could help them get jobs - by producing video CVs.
The organisation's Skills for Life team have been given 20,000 under the Learning and Skills Council's Learning for Living and Work scheme to fund its All About Me project.
The project gives students with learning difficulties the chance to produce video-based CVs which they can take along to interviews to help show off their skills and attributes.
The College's Foundation Studies Programme Manager Janet Gleadall said: "We found that some students found it very hard to express themselves under interview conditions and didn't always remember to say the right things under pressure.
"If they took an electronic CV with video along to the interview, employers would be able to see more of what the student was capable of doing and work they have produced."
The money has been used for 10 laptops, software and accessories to be used in the pilot, with 40 students taking part.
