Two places to try for breakfast this weekend...
RELISH 371-373 Ecclesall Rd Sheffield S11 8PF
Eggs are eggs? Not at relish. As well as the usual choice of poached and fried, the chefs come up with new eggy innovations. Try Eggs Tex Mex (breakfast muffin, spicy beef chilli or five bean chilli with poached egg and hollandaise sauce) or Eggs Piglet (a breakfast muffin stuffed with pulled BBQ pork, poached egg and hollandaise). Both are £7. The Full English is served traditionally, or in a burrito at £7.50 or £8.50 with tea or coffee. American classics, including buttermilk pancake and waffle stacks with crispy bacon and maple syrup are from £5-£8.
JACK BAKER’S GREAT NORTHERN BRASSERIE, THE BEAUCHIEF, 161 Abbeydale Road South, S7 2QW
Get your oats at the weekend, with breakfast at the Beauchief. Served every day 7am to noon, traditional dishes include freshly-made porridge with golden syrup, double cream and caramelised banana (£4.50). Or opt for chef Baker’s homemade granola with berry compote (£4) and plenty of white and granary toast with butter, honey, jam and marmalade (£3).
Continental tastes are catered for with home-baked butter croissants (£2), cinnamon French toast and berry compote and whipped cream (£6).
Savoury dishes include three-egg omelette with a choice of toppings (£3), eggs any way with toast (£3.50) and JB’s Full Monty breakfast selector: crispy bacon, Cumberland sausage, grilled tomato, black pudding, field mushrooms, baked beans, fried potatoes, Derbyshire oatcakes, leaf spinach, fried, scrambled or poached eggs (£8).
