Trail-blazing students focus on a video fire warning for kids

DONCASTER pupils could soon be shown a film warning them of the dangers of making hoax 999 calls.

Doncaster College students Adam Beighton, Charlotte Chan, Daniel Marriot and John Hanley have been working with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue as part of their National Diploma Media course to put together the video with the message: "Hoax Calls Kill."

It is hoped that the short film, which used a professional actress and was filmed on location in Sheffield and Doncaster, will be played to thousands of schoolchildren to curb prank calls to the fire service.

Adam said: "Hopefully this film's message will make a difference."

Lecturer Darren Lewey said: "They have made a film they can be proud of."
