Top Doncaster College students in line for award
TOP students at Doncaster College are in line for awards as part of National Apprenticeships Week.
A ceremony will take place later this year to celebrate the college's best apprentices in five different categories to mark the special week, which runs until Friday.
The college works with more than 200 differing employers across South Yorkshire including Doncaster Council, Wabtec, Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Chamber and Rotherham Council.
Many success stories have come out of the college's apprenticeships scheme, one of whom was Joiner James Lilly. pictured left, who last year scooped Persimmon Homes' National Apprentice of the Year award.
Ann McKay, the college's work-based learning contracts manager, said: "The college is committed to promoting the apprenticeship scheme within our own organisation.
"Over the years we have had many young people who have started a foundation apprenticeship with us and have subsequently progressed to advanced apprenticeship.
"We currently still employ 15 staff who have qualified through that route, many others have since left the college but have been successful in new roles by being well qualified."
More details about the categories for the college's awards and how to nominate will be announced in the next few weeks.
