TODAY'S WOMAN: How it works

A VERY low frequency electrical impulse is passed into the body via conductive electrolytes and hand-held wands.

The frequency is similar to that of the human heartbeat and much lower than conventional "micro-current" machines which function primarily as muscle stimulators.

Meditech Clinics, which now has 12 Beautytek machines in salons around the UK, say using micro-current at this level has been consistently proven to stimulate a substance which energy cells need to function correctly. The body starts to repair itself from the inside out.

Most similar treatments rely on guesswork and the skill of the therapist. Beautytek uses a computer to continuously monitor the body's reaction to the frequency and constantly adjust to achieve energetic equilibrium.

The treatment is popular in Italy and Germany, where over 400 machines are in use and over 1,000 treatments are carried out each day.

Results are long-lasting but Meditech recommend clients have a top-up session every three to four months (at around 150 a time).
