TODAY'S WOMAN: Beat the crunch with frock swap
Sheffield fashionistas turned recessionistas should make a beeline for a money-saving frock swap...
The Out of the Ordinary Summer Frock Swap at the Millennium Gallery this Wednesday is the perfect opportunity to update your summer look for next to nothing, says organisers.
The swapping - or swishing, to give it its proper fashion name - starts at 6.30pm, but be there an hour before with up to five unloved items from your own wardrobe you're prepared to part with.
Clothes and accessories - jewellery, shoes, hats and handbags are all welcome - must be good quality and clean.
Museums Sheffield will put all items out on display while swappers get on their marks. At 6.30pm a whistle blows - and the ladylike free-for-all begins.
It's fast and frenetic - the whole event will be over by 7.30pm. But it's fun and a great way to trade on your unwanted pieces.
Entry to Frock Swap costs 6 and includes a free drink and a Boots goodie bag.
In keeping with an event which is all about recycling, all leftover items will be donated to a local charity voted for on the evening. For more information call 0114 278 2610.
The Frock Swap is inspired by Out of the Ordinary: Spectacular Craft, the latest free exhibition at Millennium Gallery which runs until September 20.
