TODAY'S WOMAN: An electrifying way to beat the bulge

SO, you loathe your fat stomach.

What you wouldn't give to be rid of the wodge of stodge around your midriff that hangs over your jeans, bursts out of blouses and gives you that five months pregnant look in a frock.

How about 1,700?

That's the price 62-year-old Pam Cooper of Ranmoor was prepared to pay to budge the bulge.

She didn't want the trauma of a tummy tuck and says she's too lazy to exercise.

More: How it works

So she took a chance and splashed out on the new, fat-busting treatment Kate Winslet, Helena Bonham Carter and Rachel Stevens are rumoured to be fans of.

Beautytek has just arrived in Sheffield and it sounds too good to be true... There's no surgery, no anaesthetic - and absolutely no exertion required.

While you lie back and relax, an electronic impulse is passed through your body - and over a course of treatments, your fatty layers, droopy bits and cellulite are supposed to disappear.

A course of the recommended 12 treatments costs 1,700. And what every single one of us hoping for miracles will want to know before parting with that sort of money is... does it work?

Pam reckons she has gone from a 16 to a 14 and lost 8lbs in eight treatments - and says it's worth every penny.

"It was a lot of money to pay; I thought long and hard about it," says the former pharmaceutical rep.

"I have hated my tummy and the midriff bulge above it for years and have tried stacks of different treatments. But nine out of ten times it had been a case of throwing money away.

"I thought I was stuck with my tummy as I love my food, hate dieting and don't like exercising because I'm lazy. I didn't want to do something drastic like have a tummy tuck, either.

"But my son's wedding was on the horizon and I wanted to look my best. I'd bought a lovely red outfit but it was a bit too tight.

"Then I read about this new slenderising system. I looked into the technology behind it, read the testimonials and gave it a try.

"The first treatment convinced me - all I did was lie there and just over an hour later I got up to find that my stomach measured half an inch less.

" I'm now a dress size smaller and I still have four treatments to go. I walked down the beach in Cannes last month wearing a bikini with pride. And at my son's wedding my perfectly fitting red outfit drew lots of complements."

Pam was advised to drink plenty of water after each treatment, use her exercise bike twice a week and cut down on the carbs.

But she is adamant that such measures could not have been enough to shift the tummy she'd hated for years.

She adds: "You can't quite believe something that takes no effort can achieve what you've wanted for so long, but I'm convinced it is working."
