THE Things We Have In Common is the theme for this year’s Islam Awareness Week.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary at its launch at a packed Bramall Lane’s Platinum Suite this week members emphasised the need to continue to convey and share its core messages of shared identity, peace and harmony. In a speech written for him by his 12-year-old son Abdul Islamic Society President Abdool Gooljar said: “A lot can be achieved in 20 years by many people, faiths and societies and Islam Awareness Week has shown that with the contribution of others many achievements are possible.
“Others in this world attempt to break the love we have created between us. Most of these acts are due to hatred and discrimination. Islam Awareness Week is working with other faiths and groups for a better tomorrow.”
