The Dome prepares for an 'invasion' of video gamers

DONCASTER Dome is readying itself for space invaders!

More than 300 gamers will battle it out at a large video gaming tournament next month.

Cash prizes totalling over 3,000 will be awarded to the winners of the tournaments, which is organised by the South Yorkshire gaming group, Sychosis, who have organised over 50 events over the last seven years.

The tournament takes place at the Dome on the weekend of July 4 to 6.

Games in the competitive section include Call of Duty 4, Counter Strike Source and Unreal Tournament 3.

"There is a great demand for sociable and competitive gaming events, particularly in the north of the UK, and this event is fulfilling that demand," said Neil Armstrong, products director at PlusNet, the event's sponsors.

Tickets are 35 each up to 2 weeks before the event if bought before June 20, and 45 after.
