Here’s a chance to relish...
A saucy head-to-head as home-grown Henderson’s takes on Worcester.

The Battle of the Relishes is being staged during a Great British Pie Night at the Devonshire Arms in Middle Handley next Wednesday.

“The night is going to be a celebration of traditional food values and tastes,” said Devonshire Arms manager Alistair Myers.

“We aim to prove once and for all that Henderson’s is king of the condiments!”

“Anybody from Sheffield will tell you that the only true accompaniment to a pie is a good dash of Henderson’s Relish, but can people really tell them apart?

“We’re asking diners to see if they can, with a free pint of local ale for those that get it right. It should sort out the locals from the outsiders.”

Award-winning Head Chef Tom Lawson is preparing what manager Alistair describes as “some very special pies for the night.

Fillings will include meat and potato, chicken and mushroom, Moss Valley pork and cider, lamb shank shepherd-style, plus apple for dessert. All will have a pastry base and lid – the sign of a real pie in Tom’s cookery book.

A Great Pie Quiz will be staged, too.
