TWO savage youths who beat a disabled dad to death at a Sheffield tram stop have today been detained at Her Majesty's pleasure.
Lewis Barlow and Leon Gray, who were both aged just 14 at the time of the attack, showed no emotion as the judge Recorder of Sheffield Alan Goldsack QC ordered they should serve a minimum of 12-and-a-half years behind bars.
Both teenagers, from the Winn Gardens estate, were found guilty of murdering Colin Greenwood last month, following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
Mr Greenwood, aged 45, was making his way from his partner's house in Winn Gardens to his home in Dryden Road, Southey Green.
The court heard both yobs cornered the dad-of-five at the end of the tram stop on the evening of April 13, knocking him to the floor, where they kicked, punched and stamped on him.
Although Mr Greenwood got up and managed to get on a tram, before catching a bus towards his home, he collapsed as he alighted on Southey Road.
He died in the early hours of the following morning of serious head injuries.
Barlow and Gray, now 15, whose identities have been revealed after the judge lifted reporting restrictions, carried out the unprovoked attack in full view of people waiting at the tram stop, then returned to their estate to brag about the incident, the court heard.
