THERE are few places where you can sip a cocktail and eat free hors d’oeuvres, while waiting to pick up a meal to go.
But you can at Damon’s.
And if you order your take out before 7pm you get the cocktail of your choice for half price - bonus.
Between ordering and delivering we were waiting roughly 15 minutes. Just long enough to down a Black Russian and nibble three or four free chicken wings.
And it’s a nice place to while away the time as well. Well decorated and squeaky clean.
Though the tannoy announcement which informed our meal was ready was so loud it frightened the bejeezuz out of us.
Upon paying the bill we discovered there’s another bonus to taking your food home rather than taking up a table - a 25 per cent discount.
And in this day and age that’s always handy.
We ordered a combi platter consisting of a large rack of succulent BBQ ribs and two pieces of tasty teriyaki chicken.
With that we got a handful of chips, a smallish side salad and a small bowl of coleslaw.
Bread and butter were chucked in too.
We also ordered a couple of loaded potato skins.
Between two it made for a very tasty meal though it wasn’t the biggest plateful we’d ever had.
And sadly on this occasion our dog Steffi the Staffy missed out on any leftovers.
