Support for runaways

A CHILDREN'S charity has teamed up with a popular food outlet to try to help runaway South Yorkshire youngsters.

Dinnington-based SAFE@ LAST works with under-16s who have nowhere to go after suffering problems at home.

Now it has joined sandwich firm Subway to reach out to more youngsters. It has produced a contact card with a 'meal deal' on the back to try to stop youngsters binning it.

Tracy Haycox, charity strategic runaway services director, said: "We are thrilled to have Subway on board helping to promote our helpline to those who may desperately need it.

"We have produced contact cards in the past but found that young people do not hold onto them or need an excuse to pick one up in front of their friends.

"With a special deal on the back for a discount at Subway, we hope that eventually every young person in South Yorkshire will have a card in their purse or wallet and, therefore, have our number if they ever need it."
