Students organise town's Sport Relief Mile run
A TEAM of four students are going the extra mile for charity and want the people of Doncaster to slip their running shoes on too!
Students Chris Moore, aged 21, Sarah Spencer, 18, and 17-year-olds Michaela Williams and Steven Ross have joined forces with Doncaster Council, Doncaster Active Partnership and Keepmoat Stadium to organise the town's Sport Relief Mile event.
The enthusiastic foursome from Doncaster College have taken the lead in organising the town's race as part of their BTEC national certificate in sport and exercise. Their course leader Sam Meadows is also involved.
Doncaster's Sport Relief Mile will take place on Sunday at Keepmoat Stadium, finishing with a lap of the running track.
Chris, from Bentley, said: "We wanted to be part of Sport Relief because this race is a big event across the country and to be able to play such a key role in our own town's race is something we're all really excited about. It will be a fantastic event for the town."
At the event there will also be a pre-mile warm up as well as bungee fun run, sumo suits and rugby and football taster sessions on the 5-a-side football pitches.
