Students in for windfall
UNIVERSITY Centre Doncaster has increased the value of its bursary schemes by a third - meaning students could get up to £800 cash back per year.
Students enrolling on a higher education course in September at the Centre, operated by Doncaster College, could be eligible for one of two separate bursary schemes each worth 400.
The Doncaster Education City Bursary is available to higher education students at Doncaster College, Dearne Valley College or any secondary school in the Doncaster Council area in the two years before they enrolled on their higher education programmes.
And the Bursary is available to higher education students who receive means-tested support from the council. Students can qualify for both.
Mark Mabey, the college's new vice-principal for higher education, said: "Having a higher education is becoming increasingly important in today's employment market.
"Doncaster College is committed to providing an affordable, accessible range of programmes to suit the needs of local people and industry.
"The bursary scheme is one significant way in which the college aims to make studying at higher levels less daunting to learners."
