Student film-makers aim for a monster hit

A GROUP of Doncaster students have filmed the latest music video for local band I Monster.

Students from Doncaster College and University Centre Doncaster have written, produced and starred in the band's video for Lust For A Vampyr, which will be released in the coming weeks.

The project happened after the band's Jarrod Gosling spoke to close friend Grant Bridges, who lectures at the college, about producing a video for a forthcoming release.

Grant, along with colleagues Lee Johnson and Gareth Welbourn, enlisted the help of students from various arts courses at the College and University Centre and got to work.

The video was shot on location at University Centre Doncaster, Wentworth Castle and in a private garden.

Student Rachel Rollin, who has since joined the University Centre as a lecturer, said: "It was great to work on a project like this with such talented people. The band was great, the students were great and Grant was great.

"It showed how hard everyone has to work to get a project like this to completion.

"Every piece of the jigsaw came together perfectly. I can't wait to see it being played all over the world now."

Fellow student Rhona McRobbie, who acted as a vampire in the video, said: "It was a fantastic experience. Everyone worked hard but was still very chilled. We all had a great time."

Other students involved included actresses Cheryl Boothe, Rhea Dolan, Lauren Bell, music producer Michael Dunne, make-up artist Andrea Holt, screenwriter Stuart Angel McGregor and producer Simon Atkinson.

I Monster's Jarrod Gosling said: "I've been very impressed with their work and I'm sure it will look great on television."

I Monster made the top 20 in 2001 with Daydream In Blue and the band's music also appeared in hit film Shaun Of The Dead.

Doncaster College and University Centre Doncaster run a host of arts-based courses, including a new Moving Image degree, from its Hub and High Melton campuses.
