Soccer fan Clare's ambition is to become a manager

DONCASTER football fan Clare Timms has made her first Wembley appearance - thanks to her work on her own reading and writing.

Clare, from Doncaster town centre, was one of 30 learners from across England who received certificates for literacy and numeracy learning from football stars Garth Crooks and Trevor Brooking in recognition of their achievements.

The presentation was at a ceremony at Wembley Stadium.

Clare, aged 22, is improving her literacy and numeracy skills as part of a link-up between Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster College, under the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills' 'Heading for Success' initiative.

Clare said: "My ambition in life is to be a football manager or coach. Improving my maths and English through Heading for Success is helping me move towards achieving that goal."
