Sher's dramatic arts
IT won't just be Sir Antony Sher the actor they'll be talking about when he re-opens the Crucible, starring in Ibsen's Enemy of the People.
The theatrical knight is also a keen painter and will have an exhibition of his work in the foyer.
The centrepiece is a painting called The Audience, with a cast list of over 120 people who have influenced him for good or bad.
They include Mandela and Hitler, Brando, Olivier, members of his family and several self portraits in various roles.
And right at the bottom in the centre is another of himself with his civil partner Greg Doran.
"It's an autobiographical piece that I painted for my 60th birthday last year," he says.
"My publishers were re-publishing my real autobiography so I also created this."
He's already had one exhibition at the National Theatre and the current one (there are some 50 works) moves to Coventry after the Crucible.
"I'm on a bit of an artist's tour at the moment," says Sir Antony.
The play opens for previews on Thursday and continues until March 20.
