'Satan's slaves' in pub attack

MEMBERS of a bikers gang known as Satan's Slaves are being sought by police investigating a serious assault in a Doncaster town centre pub.

Officers today issued images of some members of the Sheffield-based motorcycle club who may be able to help with their enquiries into the incident at the Vintage Rock Bar on St George Gate.

A young man and his girlfriend were both injured in the attack in the basement bar of the premises the Saturday before Christmas. About half a dozen Satan's Slaves had turned up and entered the premises before management could stop them.

A Vintage Rock Bar spokesman said they had a "fearsome reputation" and had allegedly been involved in trouble at another Doncaster pub on a separate occasion.

"We have got staff on the door but when they come in and there's a lot happening they're in before you realise. Then you have to keep an eye on them.

"I have no idea why it started but there was some sort of altercation downstairs between them and another member of the public and that's when it all kicked off. It was quite crowded that night with it being close to Christmas.

"We are working closely with the police to assist them in their investigation and ensure the suspects are caught. I want to reassure the public that we do not condone this kind of behaviour in our bar."

Police said the bikers had been drinking heavily and it is not known how they made their way home.

The 22-year-old man received injuries to his face and head and was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary for treatment.

His girlfriend, who is 20, suffered a black eye.

A police spokesman said: "This appears to be an unprovoked attack and we have released these CCTV images of the suspects taken from the bar."

Satan's Slaves, who used to drink at The Yorkshireman and Nelson pubs in Sheffield city centre, wear leather jackets with their name, a skull motif, and hometown on the back.

Nobody from the group was available to comment.
