Richard Hawley, Park & Arbourthorne Social Club, Thursday

RICHARD Hawley headlines a rock and roll tribute to his late father Dave at the Park & Arbourthorne Social Club on Thursday night.

It was at this venue that Dave made his last and all too brief appearance onstage back in 1996. As well as strong musical ties, most of the artists performing have strong personal connections with Dave.

Members of The Scott William Combo, with whom Dave emerged in the mid 60's, will perform a short acoustic set.

Dave Hawley and Frank White were close musical associates and brothers-in-law who blazed a trail on the local scene back in the 60s and the the Hillbilly Cats have recreated their original line-up with brothers Pete and Roger Jackson – bass and drums respectively, Dave 'Dia' Jones on guitar and Graham 'Satch' Sargeant on vocals and guitar.

Singer/guitarist Ron Blythe also became Dave's musical sidekick in the early 70's when they performed together as country-rock duo The Cargills. Likewise one-time Joe Cocker guitarist Dave Hopper often played alongside Dave in various ensembles.

Playing his own musical tribute as well as a very personal tribute is Dave's son, Richard.

Backed up by a specially formed combo, Richard will be performing the kind of music he was first influenced by, through his Dad, which was classic rock'n'roll and rockabilly.

All

proceeds will go to St. Luke's Hospice. A DVD of the event will be available later.
