AN elderly couple got the shock of their lives when they came home to find a car had ploughed into their Doncaster bungalow.
They spent the night in a hotel after the crash on Sunday afternoon in the Lindsey Close cul-de-sac in Bessacarr.
Fire crews called to the scene said an MG Rover driven by an 83-year-old woman had reversed across the road from the drive of the bungalow opposite into the living room of the building, causing substantial structural damage.
The driver was still in the car when emergency services arrived, although she was not trapped, and she was helped out and taken to hospital for a check-up.
The bungalow is occupied by a couple in their 80s but they declined to comment on the incident.
Fortunately they were not in at the time of the incident and after returning home to discover the damage they were advised not to go inside until a structural examination was carried out by experts.
