Retired boss in the swim

DONCASTER fitness fanatic Brian Taylor has been shortlisted for a sporting award at the age of 60.

The Balby man will find out on Friday if he has won a Fitness First New You Achievement award at a ceremony in London.

The retired finance director decided to keep active after giving up work and embarked on a gym and swimming programme at the Fitness First facility in Balby.

Brian, a former water polo team captain when he was at Southampton University, soon found his old fitness returning and last year collected a British long distance swimming title at a competition in Glasgow.

He can also boast a collection of other medals won at other Amateur Swimming Association events over the past year.
