BOSSES and staff at Doncaster railway station have been praised for keeping the site safe.
Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton, visited the town centre site to meet staff and congratulate them on achieving a Secure Station award.
She wrote to the East Coast railway operator to congratulate them on being accredited again under the Department for Transport's Secure Stations scheme and was then invited by station manager Simon Pashley to visit Doncaster Station to meet with the staff who helped to achieve this award.
She said: "The Secure Stations scheme provides reassurance to passengers and staff and achieving the status is no mean feat and so I am delighted to have the opportunity to thank the staff at Doncaster Railway Station for working so hard to improve passenger security. "
To achieve secure stations status, the operator must demonstrate robust controls that provide enhanced training, recruitment and risk assessment.
There must be evidence of working closely with the British Transport Police to combat crime as well as working with its users to try to improve the station environment.
