Polish teachers strengthen twinning links with Doncaster
TEACHERS from Doncaster's Polish twin town visited Doncaster College to cement the partnership and resurrect links going back to 2000.
Headteacher Adam Sarkowicz and English teachers Kasia Obermajer and Damian Koltun from Zespl Skl, in Gliwice, Poland, made the trip to the college's Waterfront base.
Zespl Skl is planning to deliver an International Baccalaureate (IB) programme from 2010 – a course Doncaster College has run since 2006.
The visitors met IB staff to establish links for future student exchanges, and learn about the course.
And the college's international office arranged for the delegates to visit Danum School where they met Polish students living and studying in the UK.
Future events involving the school include staff from Gliwice visiting Doncaster to observe teaching methods and there will be a reciprocal visit in April 2009.
There are also plans for students to work collaboratively on joint projects.
