Police hunt Halloween road-rage driver
A VICIOUS Halloween road rage attack which put a teenager in hospital is being investigated by Doncaster police.
The 18-year-old woman told officers her motorcycle was twice deliberately rammed by the driver of a 4x4 until she was knocked off on a busy road. She escaped serious injury in the attack.
Police are looking for a man in his 40s who was driving a dark Range Rover on Cantley Lane, Doncaster.
They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident on Saturday October 31 at around 4.30pm to come forward.
The 18-year-old from Auckley was travelling along Bawtry Road towards Cantley on her motorbike when she joined the traffic lights near the Asda supermarket.
She told police drove to the front of the queue between the cars and waited for the lights to change but a driver in a Range Rover behind her sounded his horn and started shaking his hand at her.
When the lights changed to green the motorcyclist drove on towards the junction with Cantley Lane but the Range Rover followed her at a very close distance and as she turned onto Cantley Lane, it made contact with her back wheel knocking her, she said.
She told police she managed to regain control but after a short time the Range Rover attempted to overtake her and pulled alongside her deliberately swerving into her and knocking her off her bike.
The driver did not attempt to stop and did not report the collision, say police.
The woman was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with injuries to the right of her body but was discharged after treatment.
The road rage suspect was white, with dark receding hair and a bald patch on the top of his head. He was driving a dark blue or black Range Rover possibly around four years old, with a cream leather interior.
PC Andy Birdsall said: "We are treating this offence very seriously and want to send a clear message out that road rage incidents like this will not be tolerated. We are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to the police so we can put a stop to it happening again."
