More to do this winter

THE lives of famous people who lived in Doncaster will be the subject of a group's informative talk later today.

Members of Doncaster Retired Teachers' Association will be meeting this afternoon at 2pm for the first time this year following their break over Christmas.

They meet at the Lakeside Community Church in Booth Avenue, off Bawtry Road, Doncaster, on the second Monday of every month and all retired teachers are welcome to join.

* A newterm of Painting for Pleasure classes has got underway on Thursday mornings in the St Mary's Road Scout headquarters at Tickhill.

Sessions are once again being taken by Bawtry based tutor Ruth Whitham.

Tickhill Methodist Ladies Fellowship gets its New Year programme under way tomorrow with lunch in the chapel.
