Kites flying high after £190,000 grant to help hard-pressed families

A SERVICE providing parenting support to families in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham has received funding to expand into Edlington.

Kites is a family support service that offers support and guidance to families with children under the age of 13 in South Yorkshire.

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust has awarded a grant of 192,978 to help meet the rising demand for its services.

Barnsley East and Mexborough MP Jeff Ennis and CRT Trustee Shaun Wright called in to Kites' Bolton-on-Dearne office to break the good news about the funding.

Jeff said: "This important service is transforming lives when families are facing increasing pressures in these tough economic times. The extra money means that even more local families will be able to benefit from the excellent support on offer."

Kites can help with many issues faced by families including loneliness and isolation, low confidence and self esteem of parents and children, help with understanding and coping with children's behaviour and help to improve parent/child relationship difficulties.
