And here’s another finalist - this one hoping to follow in the footsteps of her big sister.
Jessica Higgins is hoping to make it a family double by being named Miss South Yorkshire 2014. Sibling Hannah, now 23, won the pageant in 2011.
“No-one ever expected me to have a go at this too,” says the 19-year-old of Wentworth
Road, Thorpe Hesley. “Hannah’s definitely the girly-girl of the family. I’m more into horses and getting mucky than putting on an evening dress. But I saw how much her confidence improved afterwards and all the opportunities, and I just thought I’d give it a go.”
The London Royal Veterinary College student will be one of 25 finalists competing for the title next week.
But does having a sis who won it pile on the pressure?
“I’ve never thought about it like that,” says Jessica. “But I don’t think so. It’s not the winning that counts. Just taking part is a great.”
