It's spooky but they've yet to see a single ghost
ONE year down and not a single spook nailed bang to rights. Not much of a haul, then, for Sheffield's intrepid ghostbusters, Mike Kazybrid and Andrew Wooding?
Mike - he's the one pictured in the black fedora - says: "It is in the sense that, as we often say to people, we are out there seeking what cannot be found.
"The fortunate aspect is that we've got a lot of support."
Their internet blog, www.twomenandaghost.blogspot.com, recording their humorous ghost hunting activities in and around Sheffield, is one year old and has been getting hits from all around the world.
As befits two comic writers - Mike is currently drawing the Wallace and Gromit cartoon strip in the Sun and Andrew has written for Bananaman, Desperate Dan and Buster - they have seen the funny side of their reqular forays into the city's other world of ghosties and ghoulies, recorded in words and pictures on the blog.
It's got fans from Australia to America and has spawned videos on YouTube (just type in Sheffield Ghost Hunt and you'll see them) and podcasts.
And now they've been taken up by Haunted magazine (for which cartoonist Mike has also done the cover) which Andrew describes as the paranormal equivalent of Loaded, presumably without the nudes.
There have been more hoots than haunts but Mike is anxious not to upset people who have given them tip-offs. "The humour is directed at ourselves and not our informants."
One trip, which you can see on YouTube, was to the vaults of Sheffield Libraries where a woman in Victorian dress was seen in one of the cubicles of the ladies loo.
Our pair went off to investigate - at midday not midnight - and found nothing. But some unexplained bangs had them dissolving into giggles.
Other trips have been to investigate the allegedly haunted Stocksbridge Bypass and Hagg Hill.
While neither have seen a ghost Mike, who lives in Ecclesall, recalls one occasion as a student when he was working on an empty house.
"I could hear someone crying in the room above when there was no-one there. I didn't volunteer to go back!"
The pair are celebrating the first anniversary of the blog by giving readers of the Diary a spooktastic Bank Holiday offer.
They may not have seen a genuine ghost but they might. Send them your personal ghostly experience and they will turn it into a cartoon strip and post it on the blog. You get to keep the signed original artwork.
