International visitors for aviation security centre's opening

VISITORS from around the world headed to Doncaster yesterday for the opening of the new National Security Training Centre for the aviation industry.

Don Valley MP Caroline Flint opened the new centre, run by Redline Aviation, at Robin Hood Airport, with visitors from Ghana also present at the ceremony.

Redline is also planning to run courses in Ghana, which is why delegates from the African state were there.

Following the move to the new training centre, Redline is expected to recruit up to 30 new staff.

Ms Flint said: "Redline Aviation has shown great vision and brought another dimension to the cluster of businesses at Robin Hood Airport. This expanding firm now has a state of the art facility for ensuring that security professionals working at UK airport and from overseas can be trained to highest standards by people with military and aviation expertise."

"Even in tough times like these, there are firms which are growing their businesses, and using a strong UK base to pave the way for winning contracts abroad.

"Aviation is an international business, so it is great to see a Doncaster-based firm, opening training facilities not just here, but in Ghana, so they can take this knowledge and expertise to airlines across the world."

Redline Aviation's expansion has been assisted by Yorkshire Forward and by Doncaster Council's Invest in Doncaster team.
