Healthy eating drive at The Hub

THINGS were getting fruity at Doncaster College this week when a healthy eating drive took place at its waterfront site.

Hundreds of students, staff and visitors at the organisation's Hub campus drank fruit smoothies as the college joined forces with Sheffield Hallam University to promote healthy eating.

The 'Season It' project, which aims to promote healthy eating from an early age, was launched at The Hub by childcare students.

The scheme aims to get young parents to feed their children healthy food.

College childcare lecturer Jackie Dow said: "It is all about changing the way children eat from a very early age. If children eat healthy at the start of their lives, it is easier to carry it on rather than get them to eat healthy in their teens."
