Firms take honours in business awards
THREE Doncaster companies took honours at the regional British Chambers of Commerce Awards and are in the running for top UK business accolades.
The town's i-education Ltd, Doncaster Re-Furnish and Tech Support (Holdings) Ltd were all Yorkshire category winners and are now all through to the national finals in London on November 26.
Michael Wilkinson and Steve Holt set up i-education, named Most Promising New Business, just over two years ago.
The online learning developer has achieved sustainable growth and re-invested greatly in product development giving it huge market potential.
The company provides a range of products and resources that integrate the latest technology into everyday learning.
Doncaster Re-Furnish picked up two awards – Yorkshire's Business of the Year and the Green Award for its ethical furniture collection and recycling operation which won praise from judges for its 'excellent innovative model and great green agenda'.
During the last 12 months it has collected 25,697 bulky household items, achieved 69 per cent reuse and recycling rate and supported 4,264 individuals and families with furniture.
Doncaster Chamber Entrepreneur of the Year Chris Harrison walked away with the same accolade but this time at regional level. His company, Rossington-based Tech Support (Holdings) Ltd won the region's Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
