Here we go! Christmas is here a again and that can only mean one thing... well, two things actually.
Food and drinks. We all roughly know what food we’re going to have, give or take the odd inspirational sprouts innovation but it’s the drinks where you need to be spot on.
Asssuming you’ve got the sweet sherry and malt whisky in for those who stick with tradition how about trying something new – or at least different.

Whitley Neill Gin around £32.50 for a 70cl bottle
Hand crafted using African botanicals, this super-premium multi-award winning gin, is served with orange wedges to build on the unique flavour and aroma of South African ingredients, baobab and Cape gooseberry – as well as seven other botanicals. Whitley Neill Gin is derived from eight generations of brewing and distilling brought down through Johnny Neill’s family since 1762.
Bootlegger from around £37.50 for a 70cl bottle
An authentic reproduction of 1920s prohibition alcohol, sold in Harrods, Harvey Nichols and top-end bars in London. This unaged, white grain whiskey can be sipped neat over ice or mixed in cocktails. Named after the suppliers of the illicit alcohol during US prohibition.
Lamb’s Navy Rum from around £15.50 for a 70cl bottle
Established 164 years ago and now an iconic British brand after Alfred Lamb used to stash his rum in secret caverns under the Thames while it aged.. the bottle retains its hexagonal shape which was to prevent the bottles rolling around on the ships’ decks and July 31, 1970 there was uproar in the British Navy, when the Great Rum Debate at the House of Commons put an end to sailors’ daily rum tot. So now you know – tastes great as well.
Tequila Rose around £17.09 for a 70cl bottle
Tequila Rose is a luxurious blend of premium tequila and strawberry liquor, made using fresh dairy cream. Ideal in cocktails, popsicles and desserts, Tequila Rose is also enjoyable sipped over ice and served with fresh strawberries. Campo Viejo Rioja Gran Reserva reduced to £10 from £16.99 at Sainsbury
Here’s the wine you were going to treat yourself to for Christmas – if there’s any left. Sainsbury’s have reduced their Campo Viejo Rioja Gran Reserva to £10 from £16.99. It always makes us supicious that these deals are what they say they are but this does taste like a classy wine. Bags of fruit and spice and a vanilla kick from being aged in oak, the end result being a powerful yet elegant red to lift your seasonal spirit.
Tsingtao Beer around £2.29 for a 640ml bottle
Premium bottled beer, Tsingtao (pronounced Ching Dow), is the second largest beer brand in the world by volume – Bud, Bud Light and its Chinese variants are at number one. Golden, light and with refreshing clean flavour, making it ideal with spicy food. Tsingtao is brewed in China.
