Digger cuts town power

MORE than 1,000 shops, offices and houses suffered a power cut after diggers cut through a cable in Doncaster town centre.

Parts of the town, and Balby, were blacked out for more than an hour after the incident on Friday afternoon.

A CE Electric spokesman said an excavator had damaged an underground cable in Waterdale and engineers were sent out straightaway to carry out repairs.
