Cycle award after accident

A CYCLIST who recovered from a serious accident to record his best time has been honoured by a Doncaster riding club.

Members of Harworth and District Cycling Club celebrated a successful 2009 season when they held their annual awards night and dinner at the Blacksmiths Arms in the village.

One of the biggest cheers of the night was reserved for veteran rider Greg Elliott, who for the first time achieved a 25-mile time trial in less than an hour. Members were delighted to see Greg collect the club time trial award trophy because he has been recovering from a serious road accident while out cycling.

Club chairman Matthew Barker-Quick congratulated riders on their achievements throughout the year and presented awards to well deserving members.

They included a special long-service award to club president George Morris to recognise his 50 years of club membership.
