Course aims to get you into the movies
WOULD-BE Steven Spielbergs are being targeted with a planned degree course in Doncaster.
University Centre Doncaster is set to launch a degree course in September, tailored to prepare students for careers in the film and TV industry.
The three-year course will be delivered at Doncaster College's High Melton campus and will have an initial intake of 12.
Students will cover subjects including short dramas, experimental films and corporate production.
Local businesses will be able to hire students to produce training, promotional and educational videos.
Students will be able to gain a wealth of knowledge from teachers on the course.
Lecturer Darren Lewey is an award-winning film-maker, who has made countless television documentaries for Channel 4 and the BBC.
Fellow lecturer Grant Bridges has also recently been short-listed for a European film award.
He is commissioned to direct a music promo for Sheffield-based band I Monster.
Darren said: "This new course is perfect for getting students ready for the film and television industry.
"It is a rapidly growing industry and we are committed to producing the next generation of film makers."
