When Dreda Blow steps off the stage, she relaxes by heading for the kitchen.

“I love cooking because it’s a creative endeavour, with an instant result that can be enjoyed by me and my friends,” says the woman who began ballet in childhood and started her professional career nine years ago.

“I love experimenting with different flavour combinations and inventing my own dishes. I am always adding or substituting ingredients, to give my own personal touch. For that reason I’m not great at baking; I never follow recipes properly!

“I take inspiration from various styles of cuisine, like Mediterranean, Japanese or Indian. The recipe I’m sharing with Star readers is quite typical of one of my experiments in the kitchen... It’s spaghetti Bolognese with an Oriental twist! It’s hearty and healthy with strong flavours - and rice noodles make a nice gluten-free alternative to regular pasta.”
