Comic writers get in spirit of ghost hunting
THE city's spooks aren't getting a moment of peace these days with all kinds of ghost-hunting groups trying to make contact with the other side.
The unlikeliest latest recruits are comic writers Andrew Wooding and Mike Kazybride who, as a bit of light relief from the serious business of writing and drawing Desperate Dan, Bananaman and Count Duckula, have started an online ghostblog.
They've already investigated the mad monk of Stocksbridge by pass and more are planned.
"It seems to be some sort of midlife looking for meaning," admits Andrew, aged 44, from Waterthorpe, while Mike, from Ecclesall, does the cartoons.
They're a sort of comic book version of Mulder and Scully; Mike is the believer and Andrew keeps an open mind. So what happened at Stocksbridge?
Nothing much except the car mileometer stuck at zero all the time they were there and Rasputin by Boney M shuffled up on Andrew's iPod. "Rasputin is the only chart hit ever to deal with the thorny issue of monks who are mad," says Andrew meaningfully.
"We have got no idea what we are doing but we have got to start somewhere. Maybe people will give us advice."
