College recognises young apprentices and employers with awards
YOUNG people starting out on their careers have been rewarded for their achievements at the inaugural Doncaster College Apprenticeship Awards at The Hub campus.
The college works with more than 200 different employers across South Yorkshire including Doncaster Council, Wabtec, Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Chamber and Rotherham Council.
Last year, the college helped train 462 employed apprentices across a range of occupational areas including engineering, motor vehicle, construction, hairdressing, business administration and accountancy.
The Advanced Apprenticeship Award went to Emily Goodall, of Joanne Jarvis Hairdressing, and the winner of Personal Achiever Award was Julie Taylor, from Bagnalls Painting and Decorating.
John McKenzie Brodie from Hammond Building Contractors collected the Apprenticeship at Level Two Award, and the winner of Apprenticeship Employer of the Year was Louise McQueen, from Hair Studio.
A Doncaster College spokesman said: "Apprenticeships are a great way of investing in young talent and it's great to see the learners being recognised for their achievements.
"The college is committed to promoting the apprenticeship scheme within our own organisation.
"Over the years we have had many young people who have started a foundation apprenticeship with us and have subsequently progressed to advanced apprenticeship."
