Close encounters of the Doctor Who kind

YOUNGSTERS had real monster fun when some of the best known aliens on the television appeared to arrive in Doncaster.

A group of enthusiasts known as the Hyde Fundraisers brought a legion of replicas of Doctor Who's enemies to the Lakeside Village shopping centre to raise cash for charities including Children in Need, Help For Heroes and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Among the monsters recreated by the group, which were on show at the event, were the Daleks, K9, Ood, Judoon, Scarecrow, and the Sycorax.

Lakeside centre manager Cheryl Sadler said:

"Dr Who is such a massive part of British popular culture and a family favourite across several generations. It's great to run such a massive event that caters for all."
