'Clearing' can help kick-start your degree hopes say players

CHAMPIONSHIP newboys Doncaster Rovers have teamed up with University Centre Doncaster to launch its Clearing Hotline.

Places are still left on degree courses this September and prospective students are being urged to call the Clearing Hotline on 0800 3587474 to find out if there is space on one of the centre's courses.

Northern Ireland international winger Stuart Elliott and young keeper Ben Smith donned promotional T-shirts alongside Dr Mark Mabey, the college's Vice Principal for Higher Education, to reinforce the message.

Meanwhile, the college is aimed at keeping talent local by rewarding students with up to 2,400 towards their degree.

The Doncaster Education City Bursary is available to higher education students who studied at level three, either at Doncaster College, Dearne Valley College or any secondary school in the Doncaster Council area in the past two years. It is worth 400 a year.

The Doncaster College Bursary is available to higher education students in receipt of any means-tested support from their local authority and is also worth 400 a year. Students can qualify for both bursaries.

Dr Mabey said: "Don't panic if you don't get the results you quite hoped for - we still have places available on most courses so if you give us a call on our hotline, our team of experts will be able to give you an answer straightaway."
