Charity appeal for volunteers to join fundraising sleep-out
VISITORS to a South Yorkshire shopping centre were invited to spend a night under the stars in aid of a local charity.
The fundraising sleep-out is being organised by the children's charity SAFE@Last later this year.
But its supporters have already been out and about recruiting people to take part in the event at Parkgate Shopping in Rotherham.
Last year around 30 people slept on the pavement at the shopping centre and helped raise thousands of pounds for SAFE@Last, based in Dinnington.
This year's sleepout was launched by Rotherham's Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Shaukat Ali and Wajida Naseem.
They were joined by Millers players and Rob McVeigh, from the hit BBC TV show Any Dream Will Do.
Hilary Massarella, founder trustee of SAFE@Last, said: "This is a great event to take part in if you fancy doing something unusual and making a real difference to young people in South Yorkshire."
Anyone who didn't make it to the launch but wants to take part in the sleepout on October 24 can contact SAFE@Last on 01909 566977.
