Celebrity Equinox: Star Holidays cruise ship launched - VIDEO

BREATHE in! Celebrities are often photographed in tight situations - but none more than than this. WATCH VIDEO.

This is the launch of Celebrity Equinox - a new cruise ship - as it gingerly edged its way through a tiny gap in the river bank when it left its shipping yard in Germany for the first time this week.

Star readers and web users can now be amongst the first in the world to sail on her. See offer below.

It was the ultimate test for any captain when the 122,000 tonne, 317 metre long, 700 million cruise ship set sail for the first time.

The entrance to the docks is less than 40 feet (12 metres) wide which, at its narrowest point, means less than 10 feet (3 metres) between the ship and the bank on each side.

It is a manoeuver so delicate that the slightest change in the weather or the tides means a ship can not sail for risk of causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

This 'conveyance', as it's officially known, is a 'rite of passage' for all ships.

Celebrity Equinox has taken a little under two years to build and will travel from her first home in Papenburg, Germany down the River Ems to Eemshaven for her 'finishing touches' and sea-trials before she sails to Southampton for eight days of inaugural celebrations.

She is scheduled to arrive in UK waters on July 19.

Star Holidays are offer a 10-nights European and Western Mediterranean crusie, Departing August 8, 2009, from just 1,119 per person.
