Cabbies on road to better service after college test
CABBIES in Doncaster swapped the road for the classroom to pass a professional qualification.
The drivers picked up their NVQ level two awards in road passenger vehicle driving after taking a course to help them with their jobs.
It included matters such as customer service, local knowledge, and dealing with difficult customers.
Doncaster Taxi Association spokesman Jarnel Singh said he believed taxi business was getting more competitive and more and more drivers were taking the courses.
He said: "The NVQs are a national qualification for taxi drivers throughout the country. It is a voluntary standard. But I believe it will be made mandatory soon.
"In time this will totally change the industry and those who do not will be left behind in respect of the knowledge gained from the course."
