Bruno gets in some 9 to 5...

IT'S a dog's life! Or at least it is for golden labrador Bruno who, just like the rest of us, gets up each morning and goes into the office. The office in question is the open plan headquarters of solicitors Simpson, Sissons & Brooke in Townhead Street, Sheffield, where he spends his weekdays at the feet of senior partner - and his owner - Janet Simpson, above.

"He's been coming with me since I got him in 2007," says the 52-year-old, of Joan Royd Lane, Cubley, Penistone.

"We have 16 staff here and they all adore him. I don't like the idea of leaving him at home alone so we've set up a bed by my desk, a water bowl and some toys, and he's happy as anything. We never let him go downstairs where clients are but other than that he has the run of the place."

Not that the five-year-old is known for pulling his weight, adds Janet.

"We thought about using him to pass files around so we could claim his expenses back as tax deductible but I'm not sure it would work."

Staff are warned to keep their lunches out of reach: "He's eaten a couple of sandwiches when they've been left in bags on the floor - it's just his inquisitive nature," laughs Janet.
