Blooming 'eck, what's this?
CAN anyone identify this mystery plant with lethal spiky leaves which has suddenly bloomed in the Diary's garden?
Some years ago this page wrote about a chap who had a lot of them blossoming in his garden and went out to admire them. He dug up one, put it in a carrier bag and gave it as a present. The years have rolled by, the plant grew and now it's burst into flower.
But the Diary can't remember its benefactor or what the plant is.

SINCE the BBC is getting it in the neck for high spending expenses, inflated salaries and big pensions, the Diary will add its four pennorth.
While most of the delegates at Sheffield's recent Showcomotion children's film festival dined out in places like Leopold Square and Pizza Express, a BBC party booked in to the Michelin-starred Old Vicarage at Ridgeway.
