Bid to launch new clubs for tennis and bowls players
ONE of Doncaster's hidden parks could be the home for a new sports club.
Haslam Park, which is surrounded on all sides by a housing estate in Bessacarr, could have an improved bowling green and tennis courts if there is sufficient interest among residents.
Tom Farrell, a community recreation officer with Doncaster Council, is trying to drum up support by seeking volunteers to play a part in forming new sports clubs for tennis and bowls.
He said: "For people who enjoy playing tennis or bowls and have some time to spare as a volunteer, this is an opportunity to make a contribution to organising a club at Haslam Park.
"Future improvements to the tennis courts and bowling green will be possible with the formation of a constituted club that can draw down funding and make the facility more accessible to local people for recreation."
Anyone interested should call Tom on 01302 538438.
